CarTech® 4340 Alloy

Composition (Nominal):

0.40 C, 0.75 Mn, 0.30 Si, 0.80 Cr, 1.80 Ni, 0.25 Mo

4340 steel is a low alloy, nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel capable of being heat treated to high strength levels. The alloy has a good combination of ductility, toughness and strength along with better depth of hardening than chrome-moly 4140 type alloys. Typical applications for LSS 4340 include crank shafts, impeller shafts, support tooling, die holders, bolts, gears, flanges, collets, arbors, spindles, axles, clutch parts, forming rolls and various machine tool components.
