CarTech® 300M Alloy

AMS 6419
Composition (Nominal):
0.42 C, 0.75 Mn, 1.65 Si, 1.80 Ni, 0.80 Cr, 0.40 Mo, 0.07 V, Bal. Fe

A modified 4340 steel possessing high hardenability and strength with good ductility and toughness in heavy sections. Possesses high hardenability and strength with good ductility and toughness in heavy sections. 300M alloy is used primarily in the 270/300 ksi (1862/2068) tensile strength range for aircraft landing gears, flap tracks and other structural applications. Vacuum arc remelting (VAR) imparts improved cleanliness and preferred ingot structure.

300M-HS VAC-ARC alloy is a variant that has been used for applications requiring 287 ksi (1979 MPa) minimum tensile strength. The enhanced properties have enabled the design of lighter aircraft components that exhibit equivalent load carrying capacities compared with standard 300M components.
