Conversion Services 
Carpenter’s Shalmet operation is a leading processor of customer-owned black wire, wire rod and bar which converts these long products into “bright,” precision tolerance, cold finished products. Shalmet also performs hollow boring operations.
With more than 30 years of experience, Shalmet processes stainless steels, superalloys, titanium, tool and alloy steels, aluminum, and other non-ferrous and special purpose metals.

- Chamfering
- Lathe turning billet diameters up to 26 in. (66 cm)
- Precision lathe turning up to 18 in. (45.72 cm) dia. by 30 ft. (9.14 m)
- Conversion of customer-owned bar and wire into bright products including bar-to-bar, coil-to-bar, coil-to-coil (round), and cold drawing coil-to-bar
- Experience in difficult-to-machine alloys
Repair, Parts & Services
Shalmet’s Repair, Parts & Service Division (RPS) has proven competency in rebuilding/re-engineering turning and polishing equipment. Customers value our ability to troubleshoot and differentiate methods vs. machine problems, make equipment repairs, supply parts and provide training of operators and maintenance technicians. We can provide conversion services to cover the machine outage, if needed, while our RPS staff rebuilds/repairs the customer’s machine.
