| Carpenter Invar "36"® Alloy |
(UNS K93601)
Nominal Analysis
0.02 C, 0.35 Mn, 0.20 Si, 36.00 Ni, Bal. Fe
A 36% nickel-iron alloy with a rate of thermal
expansion approximately one-tenth that of carbon steel at temperatures up to
400°F (204°C). Has been used in applications such as radio and electronic devices
where dimensional changes due to temperature must be minimal, as well as in
support and structural members in precision optical laser mechanical measuring
and positioning devices and for thermostat metals.
