A 5% chromium steel with extremely high strength
at temperatures up to about 1000°F (538°C), it has been used for such
critical applications as structural components in aircraft and missiles which
require either extremely high strength or high creep and rupture strength. It
has also been used for hot-working applications such as dies for forging, die
casting, and aluminum extrusion.
