Wyomissing, Pa. (June 18, 2004) -- Certech Inc., a subsidiary of Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE:CRS), has achieved the latest certification for quality management at its Wilkes-Barre, Pa., facility.
After a year-long process, Certech was awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification for its quality management system. ISO is a worldwide federation of 148 countries that sets national standards. ISO 9000 has become an international reference for quality management requirements in business-to-business dealings.
Certech manufactures a broad line of complex injection molded ceramic components. These components are used by the investment casting industry to create products for the aerospace, automotive, power generation, and sporting goods industries. Certech's products are used for parts with internal passages that are too intricate to machine.
"The certification process helped us improve overall as a company, and we are very proud of this achievement," said Keith Cornia, Engineering/Quality Manager for the
Wilkes-Barre facility. "International certification is an important indication to potential and existing customers that we provide a quality product. It proves we have the systems in place to ensure that our customers will be satisfied with our products and performance."
Cornia credited all employees with the achievement, especially General Manager Tyler Schick and Manufacturing Manager Brian Simmons.
