Certech maintains both a Material Development
Lab as well as a Material Control Lab. This
allows Certech to develop materials to meet
your specific casting requirements as well
as assure that the materials used in production
meet your requirements. From this lab, Certech
is able to perform testing for surface area,
particle size, softening point, thermal expansion,
x-ray diffraction, modulus of rupture (3
and 4 point), density (Helium Pycnometry),
spiral flow, torque rheometery, loss on ignition
and high temperature creep or modulus of
rupture.
To best evaluate the performance of Certech
core materials, our Material Development
Laboratory has added test equipment, which
allows the collection of data with respect
to both temperature and load under simulated
casting process parameters. This test device
can run three samples of core body material
in simulated casting environments from room
temperature to 1700oC, evaluating strength and creep resistance.
In addition to these internal resources Certech has full access
to the Carpenter Corporate laboratories, including S.E.M.
(scanning electron micro-graph) analysis, which allows Certech to
determine microstructure.
Certech is a Corporate Member of the High Temperature Materials
Lab at Oak Ridge National Labs, a world class lab with
state-of-the-art characterization and testing facilities, which
further expands our testing and development capabilities.
